From Marilyn Monroe to Scarlet Johansson, and the list goes on for Hollywood pin-up stars that we could look-up to. These women of inspirations had captured men's hearts and influenced generations of styles. Pin-up was first used in the 40's and these girls become even popular, like that poster of Betty Grable that was mass produced and five million of these copies were distributed among American GI's of the second world war. So, it was tempting for me to try this on my own.
How to look pin-up perfect?
1. Betty Page bangs - although mine is just short of one iron curl to get that look. Chopping your hair is a bit necessary as fringes is a bit cliche' to look pin-up ready. But for those who just want it temporary, you can buy a wig to save yourself from trouble.
2. Red Lips - I think this is one of the most essential elements. Not pink, not nude but red. Draw a darker shade on the edge of your lips using a lipliner, then fill-in the upper lip with your lipstick, blot and continue to fill the remaining portion. You can add a lip shiner to make it more glossy, but it's optional depending on what outcome you want to achieve.
3. Two-Piece bikini - browse on 40's to 50's wardrobe to get more ideas on what bikini you want. Search for pointed cup or cross strap brassieres, like that of Marilyn's that we often emulate and pair with high waist capri pants or high waist sexy shorts to bring about that hourglass silhouette. Lastly, try a few poses in front of the mirror and take-out the best of your personality before clicking your camera and diving on the water
Buon ferragosto a tutti!!!
